LoveWindsAndFanService

Indian movies (Bollywood productions) remain popular at Che^z, as do anime (Japanese cartoons). Two phrases for phenomena observed in many of these films, respectively:

  • "Love wind" — a bestirring of a character's hair, even indoors, when that person's soulmate appears or is thought about (reminiscent of the mysterious air currents that kept moving beat poet Richard Burton's locks in the 1968 movie Candy)
  • "Fan service" — the insertion of gratuitous scenes or poses, usually of a titillating nature, in order to reward the less-patient aficionados in the audience for putting up with such boring irrelevancies as plot, atmosphere, character development, etc.
