ReallyImportant

If something is really important, then it can wait!

That was a throw-away humorous aside in MatrixHype (31 May 2003), but when I ran across it in a recent search for something else I began to think about it ... and I started to like it.

The most critical aspects of life (ok, maybe arterial bleeding is an exception) tend in the short term to be ignored, almost invisible. Education, family, reputation, careers, relationships, ... — all depend on cumulative choices, years of investment, countless conversations. Action on all can be put off for weeks, months, maybe longer. Like a tree growing, most days are uneventful (barring catastrophe), but the eventual sum of those days makes an infinite difference.
