Reality shows three faces: things, people, ideas — all coequal. "Things" comprise the universe of nature. "People" are creatures who sense and understand (mostly homo sapiens, on this planet, nowadays). "Ideas" are the building-blocks of consciousness — threads that weave the tapestry of relationships among phenomena.
Things exist only through people, who perceive and give meaning to mere matter. Ideas are dry abstractions until they come to life within people's minds. People are things with ideas.
