Fifty Mile Jinx

The day after tomorrow two dear friends plan to tackle the Stone Mill 50 Miler with me. An ominous historical pattern, however, has already emerged:

• Comrade Caren ran both the 2006 JFK 50 Miler and the 2008 Bull Run Run 50 Miler with me — now she is likely going under the knife for hip surgery
• Comrade Mary ran the 2007 JFK and 2007 BRR with me — since then she has suffered from severe allergies and multiple illnesses
• Comrade Kate ran several BRRs (2009, 2010, 2011) and more than half of the 2010 Massanutten Mountain Trails 100 miler with me — soon she seems likely to require back surgery

And now it is Gayatri's and Stephanie's turn to run 50 miles with me ...
