A 1998 unrequited-love hit song by the alternative rock band Eve 6 is titled "Inside Out" and has a catchy chorus that begins:

I would swallow my pride,

But the lack thereof would leave me empty inside.

Turn it inside out,
Find nothing but faith in nothing.
