BLUF means Bottom Line Up Front
– it's a style of writing that immediately says what an essay or paper is about, and clearly states the "So What?" that the audience should take away. A BLUF shows respect for the busy reader's time and intelligence. It's efficient and, in its own way, beautiful.
And, if you spell it backwards and flub the reversal, BLUF becomes FLUB!
