"New Place" is the house in Stratford-on-Avon that Shakespeare bought in 1597; it was his final retirement home. Paulette (my wife) and I are having an extension built onto the modest house we've been in for the past 20+ years. The main idea is to make a space that's "one-floor-liveable", so when we get frail(er) we can generally avoid going up/down stairs, navigating through narrow doorways, and so forth.
