The other day my son Robin got his end-of-semester report from the local community college where he's taking a few classes. Much to my amusement, an error in the form's layout caused his cumulative GPA to word-wrap and appear under his name and above our address — plainly visible through the window of the mailing envelope. So much for privacy of student records!
But was this an inadvertent programmer's slip-up? Or (conspiracy theorists take note) an act of deliberate sabotage by a parent, designed to expose the results of good scholarship or lack thereof to public scrutiny? Perhaps an inquiry is needed ....
(in this case, no harm done, since Robin's grades were fine; see SummaCumLaude for a serious look at student life at the junior college level)
