In more detail, three thinking tools for mindful metacognition:

  • Reframe

  • Change Levels: zoom in and zoom out, expanding and contracting contexts, to achieve new perspective

  • * Reverse

  • Change Directions: run the film backwards, looking at the converse / inverse / conjugate, to generate new ideas

  • * Rename

  • Change Labels: map from one domain to another, focusing on what is instead of what it's called, to reveal new relationships
  • ... and then review and regroup ...
