Experiments in miscellaneous metaphors based on boundaries:
- Emotions are ripples on the ocean of wisdom.
- Life is a flame on the Earth's crust.
- Beauty is the reflection of joy in the mirror of an object.
- Love is a gossamer thread between minds.
- Liberty is the fence around interference.
- Justice is an echo of caring through the lens of the law.
- Meaning is a shadow cast by truth.
A few of these figures of speech might have some small potential for further development — but which, and why? How much depends on a felicitous image, a startling juxtaposition, or merely a rhythmic pattern of words? What, if anything, is important about such aphorisms? Are they just bumper stickers, or can they become starting points for serious thought?
